Corrs Forgiven, Not Fogotten In tune with each other, sister Sharon (left)
and Andrea Corr Coursing through familiar tunes like Runaway, What Can I Do and Breathless, the band's delivery was polished, if not always flawIess. If the members of the band appeared fatigued, they most probably were. Over the last 16 days, they have played six concerts - in Japan, Hongkong, the Philippines and Indonesia. Tonight they will be playing in Kuala Lumpur. After selling 22 million albums worldwide in a short, six-year career, the siblings looked not a day older than when they released their 1995 debut, Forgiven Not Forgotten. The diminutive Andrea wore a green halter-top and an ankle-length wrap-around. sari, and was barefooted throughout the concert. She smiled constantly at the passive audience, made up of mostly adults in their 20s and 30s, but did not engage it in any genuine banter. Once, though, she apologised for having had to cancel the two previous scheduled shows because she bad an ear infection. The band obviously played according to a prepared songlist, from one song to the next, almost without stopping. If there was any evidence that the audience adored The Corrs, it was the ground-shaking applause and lusty cat-calls that demanded for an encore. And oblige the band did, with three songs, one of which was the new single Would You Be Happier. The crowd finally got up on its feet. Indeed, these Irish eyes were forgiven for their cancelled shows but will not be forgotten. |
